When Albertson's Stores decided to cut hours for full time employees and increase hours for lower-waged part time apprentices, UFCW 870 decided to deliver a message to the grocery chain. They staged a rally at a downtown Oakland Albertson's store. Close to a hundred union members and activists joined telling Albertson's to restore the hours and stop penalizing union workers because of bad management decisions
