The recent announcement of Trustee Emil Radloff's resignation left Local 70's Executive Board with the touch decision – who should be his replacement? At a special called meeting on January 3, the Board interviewed four members who had expressed interest in the position. All were active members and strong candidates. After much debate the Executive Board chose Felix Martinez. Felix is an 18 year member of Local 70, works at Coca-Cola and has been a Shop Steward for over 12 years. He is a member of the Shop Steward's Steering Committee and the Picketing Organizing and Assessment Committee. He has also volunteered his time on many Local 70 organizing drives and has been trained and worked with the International Organizing Department on a number of different campaigns. “Felix brings experience, skill and enthusiasm to the Board. He will be a benefit now and into the future;” said Secretary-Treasurer Chuck Mack. Martinez stated; “I would like to thank the Executive Board for their vote of confidence and I look forward to working with them. Filling Emil Radloff's seat on the Board is going to be challenging. I've always admired his dedication to the Local and his commitment to the membership, and it is my goal to meet the standard that he has set.” |
